Mughal Emperor Court Scene Natural colors Miniature Painting
The painting is depicting a court scene from the Shah Jahan-Nama showing the emperor being weighed against bags of gold. This opulent ceremony was performed annually on the birthday of the emperor and the gold was then distributed in charity to the poor. The painting shows the emperor's ministers and other nobles standing barefooted on a floral carpet. The border of the painting is done with the flowers and leaves where gold is used to make the border of these flowers. This is an excellent quality Kishangarh style painting.
