Kashmir region of India has an old tradition of beautiful handcrafted items and this pillow cover is a fine example of that. Silk thread is used for its incredibly intricate chain stitch embroidery. Chain Stitch Embroidery which is also called “Ari”* work in Kashmir is done using a hook rather than a needle.
The base fabric of the pillow cover is unbleached thick cotton. The embroidery is so intricate that not even an inch of the base fabric is visible throughout the stitches.
